Recycled Pride

It seems that for me humility doesn’t often come easily. Sure, I have my share of humble thoughts. Oddly, the moment I become aware of them they seem to morph into a kind of self-righteousness where I am momentarily pleased with my awesome, humble self. Yeah, that’s not so good.
I sometimes even venture into my own private little wasteland of self-reproach, only to find that that isn’t real humility, either. One thing I’ve discovered is that we all must wrestle with this very subtle shape-shifter called Pride.
The Bible shows us that Pride is the hidden driver for many of our failures and shortcomings. The amazing thing is that Jesus can use those very same failures and shortcomings to grind the Pride right out of us. He will then recycle those same areas into something useful and good. All He needs from us is a little faith, a little trust, a little patience.
This is why I’ve chosen “Recycled Pride” for today’s subject. We all need it. So where in your life do you need to have some pride recycled? Ask God to make something new happen there.
